David:

Finally had the time to have a look at your site . . . great stuff! Well written posts with a real world touch and you cover some great, non-standard dishes as well! A much needed blog on a much needed topic for divorced men.

Your focus is also very much in keeping with what we try to maintain over at dudesndivorce.com. I'll be putting up a link to your site and would be more than happy for you to do the same.

Best of luck to your efforts here

and Be Well

If you're buying only one "frying pan" to begin with, make sure its handle and cover are over-proof. That way it can do double duty in the oven or broiler. Frittata anyone?

You should add Sloppy Joe's to your repertoire, if you haven't already.. It's a quick, easy, yummy meal that the kids can help prepare. We used to make them all the time. Get hamburger meat, the Sloppy Joe seasoning packet from McCormick's, a can of tomato paste, water, and that's it! And serve on potato rolls for best results.

Do you have a bread machine? You can make your own pizza dough really easily with one and then the kids can learn how to mush the dough out onto pans to form their own pizzas. And everyone loves adding their own toppings. And the sauce does not have to be complicated - either plain tomato sauce with some salt/pepper/oregano added or get Uncle Pepe's in cans from the store - it's my favorite.

Good luck!

Hey, Dave:

Years ago, I learned this tip, regarding adding raisins to a cookie dough recipe. Before adding raisins, soak them for 5-7 minutes in boiling water. Discard the liquid, but do NOT rinse or squeeze the raisins. Add to the cookie dough with the other ingredients (chocolate chips, nuts, etc). The plumpness of the raisins will add a chewy texture to an otherwise dry, flat cookie.

Also, to create the same-sized cookies, use a small/miniture ice cream scoop. This way, your cookies will cook evenly, and at the same time.(To save money, purchase the scooper at Wal-Mart.)

Hope this helps.
